The Role
I worked on a variety of clients, had a good level of responsibility and enjoyed the team.
There were plenty of social events which I was invited too, the team were all good friends and they really welcomed me into that circle. For example, they invited me to pizza and poker nights at their flats etc.
I was given responsibility on different tasks which were well explained by my supervisor. They also had an informal buddy system as a point of contact and a more formal people manager who discusses performance and higher level questions.
There were a variety of days: on occassions I had very little work and was slightly bored, others I had to work overtime due to bunched deadlines but many where the balance was fine and there was a healthy work:life balance.
I had complete responsibility for my tasks, obviously someone checked my work, but I was given a job and allowed to complete it myself with the option to ask questions if I was unsure.
There was an opportunity to be play a major role in a client pitch which was a massive learning experience and provided a way to learn about preparation and pitching.
The Company
People worked hard, but there was opportunity for social lunches too.
Well organised Induction, Development Day and Dragons Den client day.
Gave me travel and access to important people throughout various parts of the internship.
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Unfortunately there wasn't a business need for another junior associate so I wasn't offered a job, which was really disappointing. There are other options that are being discussed though.
The Culture
Several social opportunities. Both work wide or low key informal team drinks.
Rent was fine and there were a variety of different places to eat or drink.
I didn't go clubing, but had several evening drinks and meals.
There were a wide variety of sports teams but nothing other that which I was aware of
