About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Despite being a fairly intense process, the atmosphere throughout the firm and the various social events really helped to put me at ease. The department I was in had a borad range of matters and the work I was given was interesting and challenging and I feel I really had a chance to experience some of the work trainees undertake.
My team were really welcoming and made every effort to accomodate me. Despite there being a number of people away throughout the scheme I still recieved a variety of work from a variety of people all of whom were very happy to take the time to explain things to me. I was able to help out on various matters, completing tasks so that others didn't have to.
You are allocated a supervisor (an associate) and a buddy (a trainee). Both mine we really helpful and happy to explain anything I didn't understand as well as giving me a basic overview of the department and the basic legal processes that went into the various projects.
It really helped me build on my research and drafting skills.
The Company
It was incredibly well structured and thought out with various social events, breifings and team exercises throughout the scheme.
There is a great atmosphere throughout the Firm. Everyone was really friendly and welcoming and a lot of effort was put into making the scheme as enjoyable and useful as possible. The trainees in particular made a real effort with us. Everyone on the scheme got on well as well which really makes a difference.
We had various training sessions over the first two days which provided a more gentle introduction to the firm. Throughout the rest of the scheme we had various briefings from the different departments which helped to build up a broader picture of the firm.
I felt that the 3 weeks meant that you really got to see a good example of what life is like in the firm. The actual experience obviously varies depending on which department you were in but I was able to sit in on variuos calls and meetings and was given a wide variety of work to do.
As above the three weeks really made a difference here as it woudl be hard for the firm to maintain any sort of illusion over that time. The Firm genuinely comes across as a friendly firm. Although tehre is obviously an established hierarchy, the overall impression is one of openess.
Very. Being in a law firm and one particular department for 3 weeks really reinforced my decision to pursue a career in law.
Everything Else
I was paid although the money doesn't and shouldn't really feature in why you would want to undertake a scheme here. The experience and insight is invaluable.
Yes. Various social events were organised including karaoke and bowling, a pub quiz, a networking event, partner dinner and there were various other opportunities to socialise with a broad range of people from the firm.
You had the opportunity to meet everyone from Partners trhough to trainees. All were incredibly friendly and ready to answer any questions you might have or just to engage in general conversation. There was also a networking evening with interns from a property firm which gave us a good opportunity to put the skills we had learnt into practice.
Nabarro is very big on its Charitable works and Pro-Bono. There was also various references to social and sporting events.
Yes, without a second thought. The experience was genuinely enjoyable. The whole scheme has been carefully thought out to ensure that you as a vac schemer get the most you possibly can out of it.
