The Role
Interesting work, learnt a lot about investments across all asset classes, attended presentations across all parts of the business and worked on interesting projects with fellow interns.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Got plenty of support from colleagues and my boss was especially great with taking time to explain things to me.
Due to the sometimes ad-hoc nature of the work I found myself sometimes with little to do.
Was given responsibility for writing a couple of large reports for clients on top of the typical smaller tasks.
Greatly improved my knowledge across investments which will be useful in my future career, although probably not for my degree.
The Company
Atmosphere in office was very friendly and laid back. If the work got done then we there was no need to stay late.
Quite well organised, despite all interns working in different departments we were brought together at least twice a week for a presentation, task or trip (to Bloomberg, LME, Thomson Reuters etc.)
The Culture
I commuted from outside London, but certainly the prices in the city are not cheap.
Nightlife was alright, the long commute meant I didn't really explore the area.
