The Role
The working environment was very friendly and encouraging. Team members were always willing to help despite having their individual work-demands. I was challenged to improve important skills such as excel and other useful office packages.
Despite working in two offices during my placement, i always felt welcome in each office. My needs were always met, or atleast there was always someone ready to assist me.
Since it was a very busy time for the department because of the pressures from the situation they were facing, my direct manager was often required to attend to the situation. However, I was always involved and was empowered to use my initiatve and challenged to meet tight deadlines.
There was always a heavy workload, which i enjoyed since i like keeping busy.
I was trusted with preparing and sending vital documentation to solicitors, regarding the situation the department was involved in. I was also responsible for setting up communication with project managers, and for starting up the generic risk register.
I learned the value of clear communication and of working with a diverse group of people. I also learnt to prioritise my work. These skills are helpin me now while back at university and are likely to help me in the future too.
The Company
There were always deadlines to meet, however, there was a friendly atmosphere despite the hardwork.
It was not very organised at the beginning but after a while it became more organised as we set into our routines
My direct manager ensured i was trained in excel skills and in other computer packages. I was also given opportunities to take part in meetings.
