The Role
The interview exceeded my already high expectations. It was well organised, generously paid and I got stuck into some real work.
I felt welcomed and valued by all teams that I worked with- everyone without exception was friendly and eager to answer any questions I had.
I had a dedicated People Manager and a buddy who kept in touch regularly.
As I was in London I was fairly busy most of the time, bar a few quiet days. I heard that people in the regional offices had a lot more spare time on their hands.
I think that I was given an appropriate amount of responsibility
We had several development days which focused on soft skills- networking, developing your 'personal brand', teamwork etc. These were generally well run and useful.
The Company
The office was friendly and had a good atmosphere, however I had a more enjoyable time out on client sites. However it was the summer so that may have been why the office was a little quieter.
Very well organised- the induction week was great, and I always knew what I was doing and where I was going well in advance.
I felt that the firm invested a substantial amount of time and money into my personal development, which they didn't necessarily have to. As I have mentioned, we had several development days and the firm clearly took an interest with how we were developing throughout the internship.
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
I was offered a graduate position to start next September! Most interns were offered a job as far as I am aware.
The Culture
I went for a couple of drinks evenings and a meal with my audit team, as well as a couple of lunches that were sometimes paid for by the firm!
I stayed at home and commuted, but the travel into london was quite expensive. Socialising was expensive but you expect that in London
I imagine the nightlife is great but I didn't really get to experience it.
As an intern it was difficult to get involved as you are only there for a short amount of time, but from chatting to colleagues it seems that there is plenty going on outside work once you join full time.
