The Role
I am really enjoying the variety of work and opportunities that my placement is giving me and the drive to progress in my career.
Everyone at GSK is very willing to help and talk about their career and experience to date.
From the start of my placement I was given great support and guidance where needed however with current organisational changes this has started to lapse but once addressed everything was back on track.
This goes in swings and roundabouts, there is often a great amount of work for the role I am in and I have the opportunity to take up work in many areas of the organisation.
At the beginning of the placement responsibility levels were low and everything I had to do was checked by my manager but once proving I could do my own work to a high standard I have been allowed to fly!
At present I think the skills that I have learnt are general skills and although some are more specific towards Project Management due to being on an open joint honours degree it is difficult to cover all the areas that I study. Although this is the beauty of my placement I am able to experience different areas of the business.
The Company
A very good working environment, friendly, good noise level and atmosphere.
There is a lot of support and management from the IT Industrial Placement scheme, GSK have many placement students and all the schemes seem to be managed.
The compnay invest as much time as needed in you and are very happy for you to take part in training courses throughout your placement year.
Flexi Time
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
There is a lot of emphasis on the graduate scheme at GSK and there are opportunities to apply for this and be fast tracked.
The Culture
Yes
I lived at home with my family and was local to the area anyway. Cost of living for me FREE !
Ranges, if you are willing to travel then it is good.
My University is nearby so I continued to be involved in projects with them as well as being on placement.
