About You
I enjoyed the vacation scheme and spending time with people on the scheme. However, some of the scheme felt rather contrived with supervisors keen to go to coffee on a daily basis to catch up. It was enjoyable but not necessarily as realistic as other schemes have been.
I always felt valued. Hogan Lovells spent lots of money on us to encourage us to choose them to complete a training contract with. We had lovely dinners and great wine and food all the time.
I was always supported when completing tasks such as proofreading and reading through lots of materials. Could always ask my supervisor lots of questions such as the purpose of the document and the parties involved.
Unlikely to help with my degree. I was pretty set on Law beforehand so the scheme has not really changed this at all.
The Company
A wide variety of talks and coffee meetings throughout the day. We also did some work during the scheme such as proofreading and reading through hundreds of pages of documents. A great scheme and brilliant work!
Lots of fun activities and people were nice. At times this felt slightly contrived with people being almost over nice. Students got on well.
Great range of activities and opportunities for coffees. However, the open door policy wasn’t present for most of the scheme with partners continuously on the phone.
Thorough view of what it would be like to work at this firm on a daily basis. Opportunities to have frank and honest discussions.
The scheme felt contrived at times so understanding what was real was rather difficult unfortunately.
The scheme has confirmed that there are big differences between firms. Students need to really look at firms and what they can offer you.
Everything Else
Pay just about covered expenses.
There were some opportunities for networking with a range of staff including at restaurants and at the firm itself.
Social events were very lavish with lots of money being spent on them. This was very nice!
We had a Pro Bono presentation which gave us an insight into corporate social responsibility. No other information really. There are sports teams I think but we didn't hear much about them.
The scheme itself was fine. However, it did not present a realistic view of the firm which was disappointing! Other schemes have been better in my opinion and my friends have enjoyed them more.
