About You
I was kept relatively busy with work but was by no keans overloaded. Felt as if I was able to be useful. The socials were good events however many of the Easter schemers were quite quiet and introverted.
Was given some work which was obviously useful to some real work by supervisor was undertaking but I did not feel like the two week scheme allowed me to make any serious committment.
My supervisor was fantastic. He was completely open and honest about the firm and was very supportive. Some other schemers did not have such a positive experience.
I learned some practical skills such as how memos are expected to be presented but this objective of the scheme was not neccessarily to learn a significant amount but to decide whether the firm was the right fit for me.
The Company
2 weeks is too short, but understandably so during Easter. It was very good spending the whole time in one seat though.
Good atmosphere but I did not get on with all of the others schemers- people were generally quite quiet.
The firm provided a number of sessions to find out more about the firms various practice areas.
I was given a range of tasks which appeared realistic for trainees but I was not as busy as many trainees were.
Sitting in the banking practice area gave me a very good feel for the culture of this practice area, however other vacation schemers had very different experiences in other practice areas.
I enjoyed the work I was given and felt that I would enjoy undertaking the work my supervisor was completing.
Everything Else
£350 per week
There were a number of opportunities to meet members of the firm at talks and social events.
A number of meals and a cookery class were put on. These provided an opportunity to network with fellow schemers and many trainees attended the socials and drinks.
Yes although members of the vacation scheme were not necessarily invited to take part as they have been on other schemes.
Yes it was a useful insight and good opportunity to persuade the firm to give you a training contract.
