The Role
It was an unforgettable year spent with inspirational people, would 100% recommend it.
Couldn't have asked for a better team. Everyone was supportive, approachable and willing to help, and there was plenty going on outside of work.
Help was available when needed but at the same time someone wasn't holding your hand the entire time.
It was long hours and a lot of the time I was too busy to take lunch breaks but this meant I was able to make the most of some fantastic opportunities, so it didn't bother me too much.
I managed my own events singlehandedly, gave tasks to senior members of my team and generated significant revenue leads the company. Not once did I feel like an intern.
Lots of transferrable skills in my job role such as managing internal and external stakeholders and project management. Opportunity to complete MOS exams and lots of side activities you can get involved with. I also had two mentors who helped me to really focus on personal development.
The Company
Really fun team to be involved with, even if very busy a lot of the time. Good team socials and everyone was a friendly face you could have a laugh with.
Towards the beginning of the year HR support wasn't great, especially for interns outside the Reading office but this vastly improved after Christmas and I can't fault the current support given.
Depends on your team but my manager encouraged me to learn from my mistakes and spent a lot of time helping me develop throughout the year.

Marketing grad scheme is notoriously difficult to get on due to small amount of spaces, but I feel my experience this year will make me a very competitive graduate no matter what company I apply to.
The Culture
We could've done more as an intern community in London but most people lived at home/with uni mates so this was a big factor. The nights out we did have together were amazing.
Living in London on an intern wage (especially upfront deposits and fees) is not fun. Once rent has gone out you feel guilty for socialising and the overdraft suffers as a result.
London nightlife - enough said. Some really great nights!
I was part of a team assisting with the new intern onboarding and got to represent Microsoft at the Gadget Show live event in Birmingham. Lots of opportunity to experience the wider Microsoft.
