The Role
It was extremely interesting and gave me the opportunity to look at many different roles within the bank.
My colleagues were extremely welcoming and eager to help me.
Head office gives you a list of tasks which have to be accomplished by the end of your placement. But at the same time you have the flexibility to manage your own time. I also had 1-1 meetings often with my manager.
It can sometimes get chaotic when you are working on the floor. However I was never bored as there are always meetings to be observing or a project to be working on.
You get the opportunity to interact with customers on the floor. But also suggest changes which can improve the daily operations of your branch.
I have learnt invaluable skills. Most specifically, how to manage people effectively and conscientiously.
The Company
Everyone went out of their way to be friendly and there was a great deal of banter and jokes within branch.
There is a timelime of activites which have to be accomplished, which gave a good structure to the internship. The only issue was the initial set up of the IT systems which took some time.
We had our own personal development plans, where we wrote down our strengths and weaknesses, so we could work on them throughout our placement. These were all done on an induction weekend at a nice hotel, which made me feel very valued.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Option for a further internship next year and a graduate scheme for after university.
The Culture
Local gatherings were arranged every few weeks.
London is extremely expensive, but we were given a territorial allowance.
London has a great nightlife for every scene.
We had a day that we worked in a charity shop which was very fun.
