    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I cannot quite express what a brilliant placement experience I have had. I have been given some incredible opportunities and a very high-level of responsibility within the Account Management Team. There are so many great aspects of a placement with ProspectSoft, but I feel the best thing about it, it's that your job role is completed tailored to your individual needs and wants from your placement year. This not only ensures your placement year to be what you enjoy but also means that ProspectSoft will see your strengths and get the most from you on your Placement.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • ProspectSoft is a family. I have made some incredible friends for life. There are not many companies around where you can go on a night out with your Director or play Tennis with your Manager! I cannot express enough how valued I felt as a vital member of the team at ProspectSoft and I genuinely did not feel like a placement student, but a vital member of the Team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support I gained from both my Line Manager and Director was second to none. ProspectSoft really invest heavily in their placement students as you are treated as a full time member of staff and therefore they always listen to what you want to gain from your time with the company and what you feel you could bring to your role. One particular example of this on my placement year I expressed an interest in undertaking my own personal project for the year. This was so that I could really leave a mark when leaving the company and also having say having personally undertaken in my year. Having discussed my ideas with my Manager and Director they let me roll with it and let me manage my own time whilst completing the project. ProspectSoft also carry out placement appraisals which allow you to set goals for your year and to review them to assess how well you are doing.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On a placement with ProspectSoft I really feel however much you put in, is how much you will get out. I love to be kept busy and therefore would take on lots of work and I always had something to be doing. Being a member of the Account Management Team meant I not only had my own customer accounts to manage but I was also the first placement student to have a sales target! I also took on my own project alongside this and therefore I was always busy which really suited me. It could at times be quite stressful, but this is only because of the pressure I put on myself!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a huge amount of trust and responsibility on my placement, more than what I could have imagined. As ProspectSoft is an SME you really have the freedom to voice your own suggestions and manage your own projects and it is amazing to see the impact they have on the company. The responsibility I experienced, genuinely made me feel like a member of staff rather than a placement year. - At times I even forgot I was only on a placement!

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have developed so many new skills since being on a placement and feel so much more prepared for the working world! Everyone says a placement helps you to understand practical working life - But it really does! Working for an SME allows you to see every aspect of a business and be abke to influence it. This is probably really sad but I am actually really excited to complete my dissertation! - and I don't think I would have said this had I not been at ProspectSoft. They really support their Placement students not only through their 13months but beyond. I have already selected my topic and I am excited to g back to ProspectSoft to use the relationships I have made to help me with my dissertation.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I worked in the Client Services Office which was the biggest, busiest and most fun! There is always something going on in the office, but what I loved the most is the ProspectSoft Work hard, play hard atmosphere - Everyone can get their heads down but also have time for a laugh! Everyone puts so much into their role and that is because everyone gets so much out of their role.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • ProspectSoft would not be the company it is without its placement students. The placement scheme has been running for 10 years now, it's constantly adapting and improving the way things are done to best suit the new and returning placements. My Director was a placement student and therefore he know's alongside many of the other members of staff what it feels like to be in your shes and therefore ensure you get the most from your year.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • ProspectSoft heavily invest in their placement students. They put 100% into each placement student in return for 100% from the students. (And it works!) ProspectSoft would not have the reputation they have for their placement scheme if they didn't invest into the students!

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have been offered a job as an Account Manager with ProspectSoft after my final Year at University. I was told on day one of my placement that the one thing you want to aim for at the end if your 13months is a job offer and this is something I have succeeded in obtaining. It really shows that if you put the effort in you really do get so much out! I can now complete my final year with the knowledge of job security at such a great company doing a role I enjoy.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • ProspectSoft is such a young, vibrant company there is always something going on which will suit all different tastes.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived in Oxford with the other current placement students and I would say Oxford is pretty average cost in terms of living and socialising. It is not as cheap as Newcastle but not as expensive as London!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • We had lots of nights out in Oxford where there are lots of nice cocktail bars and a few clubs but we also ventured to Milton Keynes and London.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There is always something going on outside of work! Every week I played five a side football with everyone from work and even went kickboxing. As the company is so young people someone is always doing something whether it be football, bowling, cinema, drinks, clay pigeon shooting etc There are also annual events such as the company BBQ, trip to Thorpe park and a Black Tie event!
