The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my time whilst at Tfl, each day was different and I was always kept busy with work that had importance.
I was made to feel welcome by all colleagues even those who were not in my area. All were approachable if I had any questions, I played 5- a side football with a number of them too.
My managers were always there if I needed any help and would regularly check on me to see how I was getting on, however, if I had a clear understanding of what I was doing they would leave me to it which I appreciated.
I was busy everyday, this was good as a placement student I felt I was learning a great deal each day. I also had time to as mentioned before get involved with 5-a side football during lunch times.
I think I was given a great deal of responsiblility throughout my placement, not only with work in the office, but I went out on site alone to meet with a contractors QS. This responsibility made my placement even more enjoyable.
I think my studies were reinforced whilst working at Tfl, I also learned a lot of things that cannot be taught at university for example how site meetings are conducted, working in a large office. The experience I believe has definitely got me excited for work once I have completed my degree.
The Company
The atmosphere I would say was very good it was not a pressured nor relaxing environment which I found easy to work in.
The placement was very well organised throughout it was organised, however one slight criticism would be the time delay between applying to then be told I had been offered a interview was a long time.
I think as a 3 month placement student I would not have been able to take full advantage of the training and development Tfl offer, however we did have regular meetings to check my progress.

I would be very keen to look into the possibility of applying for the graduate scheme.
The Culture
The placement students were in a number of different locations which made it a bit more difficult to get to know everybody, however, a few of us did get together at the weekends and socialise after work.
Living in London, I was aware that it would cost me a little more to live this difference was noticeable in my rent, but financially my wage covered.
Having not really explored London before I had plenty of things to do, so I not only enjoyed the night life but the whole city.
Outside of work I played a lot of snooker with a fellow placement student, I and a number of other placement students also went bowling.
