About You
Best experience so far.
Everyone was so welcoming and kind. Felt like a member of the team from day one.
Anything I needed my team helped me with. They were so kind and so nice.
The skills learnt will help me more in my working life. Doing this experience has improved my employability skills, as well as my network skills.
The Company
The structure of the whole SAN program could have been better. It was not explained very much in some situations. However, I learnt alot and will hopefully have a chance to work for Shell in the future.
The team I was with in Strand were so kind, lively and knowledgable. Everyone knew their job and were just so kind to me. I really hope that one day I work for a team like them.
Although this work experience was not paid, the team who I was with certainly took time out of their daily routines to assist me. They gave me so much time and set up so many meetings with diffeent people and it really helped understand what they did.
This experience gave me a huge insight in the company and what they did and what it is like to work for such a huge company. Meeting many graduates gave me a huge first hand insight on what they did to get on to the graduate scheme which I found very helpful.
I really got a huge feel about Shell and what Shell culture is about. Everyone is so professional yet so nice and knows how to make a working enviroment fun.
Very valuble because by doing this work experience, I now know what path I want to take after I graduate. Although I have not yet decided on what area in Shell, I do know it is downstream commercial. This experience has helped me a great deal.
Everything Else
My lunch and travel was paid for.
I think I met new people every other day. The best part was meeting graduates because I got a first hand insight on how they got onto the graduate schemes and what areas they studied and their backgrounds. I have met some really nice people here, who I hope to meet again in the future.
Although we did not get to go to a specific event for networking, I met many people who introduced me to other people, (graduates) and I got an even bigger insight into what they do. Maybe if we attended an event where we could meet more people, that would've been more helpful.
Out of the people I spoke to, I didn't find out what they did outside of work. Some graduates I found, were part of a few networks but thats about it.
I would definitely recommend this to a friend. It's not just aout having this experience and writing it on your CV, it is also about meeting new people and making friends. This experience has hugely contributed to my future career prospects and really hope to work for either Shell or a huge company like Shell in the future.
