    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the internship, felt really valued in the team and got real work done.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Us interns were the first port of call for the stage of work that would lead up to partner level, so we really felt valued at GT.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The buddy system at GT meant I always had an associate nearby to ask all my stupid questions about the work to and help guide my work.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The day would fly by as I was always involved in reasonable long projects (2-3 hours) which wouldn't overstretch but meant I was never bored.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Being thrown in the deep end immediately meant that we were given responsibility for being the first link in the chain immediately, and our work had to be up to scratch.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I learnt will help hugely with my future finance modules at University as I got to see theory in action, plus we were trained on all stuff really applicable to the job so would use all these skills in a graduate role.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was professional but fairly relaxed, with everyone always chatting,

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • From what I've been told, having gone through a fair transition, from no real planning of the internship five years ago, now we were always kept busy and in the know, the internship had clear structure and there was a clear purpose throughout.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A considerable amount of man hours was invested in us immediately, with a lot of training and collegues always available to answer our questions. All software and hardware was always provided.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There was a clear emphasis that the internship was really a six week interview for the graduate scheme, and indeed most that were bright and went about the internship the right way were offered graduate roles.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The interns were always very keen for social events, arranging many nights out around London etc. Within my team aswell, they were quite the social life of the tax office, going to Lords on the second day, a day trip to London, and many others.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living in London, you expect a pint to be over £4 and living to be expensive, but you pay for the lifestyle you get.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Being in central London, there is always somewhere busy and always something new to do.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was sports events, such a 5-a-side and netball for the girls, and many opportunities for nights out or to go to events such as the 20-20 cricket.

    5/5
