The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at Willis. Consistently being trusted with tasks and having opportunities to learn and gain a real insight about the insurance industry.
At the end of the day I was an intern, so they're hardly going to value you that greatly. But they always appreciated my work.
The programme provided each intern with a manager and buddy, and having two people to turn to for questions was always good. Could have had more guidance in terms of progression.
Always very busy, the days flew by.
I was responsible for comparing and evaluating the models used, and updating outdated documents. They put a lot of trust in us from the beginning really.
Learnt a lot of skills that are going to definitely help me in my final year studies and dissertation, and ofcourse the business skills I learnt will help me in a future career in the industry.
The Company
Insurance isn't a place for the radio playing in the background and I wouldn't describe it as a fun atmosphere. Everyone was really friendly and willing to help and talk to the interns though and its certainly not dull, but not somewhere you can have an easy ride- everyone is always working really hard.
Brilliant. From day one everything was set up for everyone and weekly 'lunch and learn' were prepared.
As mentioned, the weekly lunch and learns were a great way to learn about the industry. In our department they spent the first week training us up to use the models properly too so that we could be of actual help from then on, as well as teaching us lots as we went on.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
The prospects are definitely appealing, just waiting on hearing about a graduate position.
The Culture
The programme could have organised more social events with the fellow interns and other graduates.
Can't expect much from cost in London really.
Would have liked more opportunities to experience the nightlife with more events, but the places we did go were good.
We were around when the team were having their summer party which they were more than welcoming for us to join which was good fun. If you work full time theres sports teams you can get involved in I think but didn't really find out much about them.
