The Role
It was actually a lot more fun than I expected, and a really great working environment.
I was pleasantly surprised by how willing people were to delegate 'real' work to me from the outset.
They were extremely friendly and helpful throughout, though occasionally a little slack in helping me find things to do when my workload got lighter.
The amount of work I had to do fluctuated, but that was reflective of the entire office and was actually quite nice as it meant I could alternate between being constructive and relaxing a bit on occasion.
I was working on real client projects - of course everything is reviewed but it still felt good and I was treated just like a graduate recruit (I know this because there was one who joined at the same time as me).
Especially the skills I learnt just using excel were useful.
The Company
The people were lovely, light-hearted emails occasionally got sent round, and there was nearly always food left on a filing cabinet for people to help themselves to!
I had a good start, but then was left to my own devices a bit in taking on new work projects. The intern-specific days were very well organised.
There is a huge wealth of online training classes I was free to enroll on, and I also attended several training sessions amongst the other analysts.
Hopefully will be getting a job offer at the end.
The Culture
The departments are quite spread out, and I was the only one in mine.
It's London, so it's expensive, but they pay accommodation or travel costs on top of your salary.
Again - it's London! Also, I was very close to Soho/Covent Garden.
We went to the pub a few times but that was about it.
