The Role
The company has a great culture and office environment. The work in my team was varied but lacked the depth in terms of technical analysis that I was hoping for at times.
Very welcoming group of people who were pleased that I could help them out on various tasks
People of all levels within the company were happy to help if I had any problems.
Peaks and troughs. I was never overburdened and had to ask on several occassions for more work but overall felt the balance was leaning more towards 'good' than 'bad'
The team project with fellow interns gave me a lot of responsibility. Furthermore, I felt that I was very gradually given more responsibility over the course of the internship. The do-check-review process in place within the company meant that my responsibility was diminshed slightly as I was primarily involved in the 'check' element as opposed to the 'do' or 'review' but understand that as an intern I should not (and did not) expect to have the same level of responsibility as the permanent employees
Was able to develop both my soft skills, including presentation skills and time management skills, and technical skills and knowledge
The Company
Relaxed and social envrionment yet employees were still doing their best for their clients, a perfect balance was struck in my opinion
Several events were put in place that allowed me to make the most of the internship. These included career chats, shadowing opportunities, a 'buddy' system, a group project on the side and various training and induction sessions. The day to day work was less well organised but understand that this is more difficult to achieve.
Company Parties/Events
The Culture
Being the only intern on my floor I found it more difficult to integrate with the other interns. This did not bother me at all as my colleagues were all very friendly
Relatively expensive in comparison to other areas of the country but not in comparison to London
Not an area renowned for clubbing!
Various sports clubs and activites to get involved with as well as drinks when the occassion called for them.
