The Role
My internship at Towers Watson was very enjoyable. My team were very friendly and always happy to help.
My colleagues were really friendly. Although its hard to give an intern important work, I was given several projects that have been used by my team in their day to day work. To that extent, I feel that my work was valued.
Everyone from the team was really happy to help me if I was finding any of my work difficult. The HR department organised several training days and even a discussion meeting with senior consultants to provide future guidance.
I had a very good work life balance throughout my internship. I was often given small client projects by my team and had several longer projects to work on throughout my internship, so I always had something to do but was never overwhelmed.
It is hard to give an intern much responsibility, since they only work within a team for such a short space of time. I was given several projects that were useful to the team, but obviously nothing absolutely essential.
I learnt a lot about liability driven investing and the basics of bonds. For example: yield curves, swaps, PV01, IE01, etc.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was very good. Everyone was friendly and I felt that I could approach anyone with a question.
The HR department at Towers Watson did a very good job of organising the internship. We had regular communication from them by email and three well spaced induction days to bring all the interns together.
I was given more than enough training for my needs. There were no special training sessions organised for us, but we were encouraged to go to any training that was already taking place.

Company Parties/Events
I would definitely be interested in being employed by Towers Watson in the future. However, I will not know for a few weeks whether my team would like to offer me a full time job offer.
The Culture
All the interns met on three induction days, however apart from that I only really interacted with members of my intern project team. This was partly due to the fact that interns were spread across the country (from Epson to Glasgow).
Living near London is obviously quite expensive, but Towers Watson did provide all eligible interns with a grant of £100 per week to help with the cost of accommodation.
I never went on a night out in Reigate.
There were a few activities available, such as company rounders. The corporate games also took place during my internship, I understand that some other interns had the opportunity to take part, but I was not notified unfortunately.
