The Role
Had great fun, my colleagues were a joy to work with and always up for a good laugh. The job was fun and practical.
Very valued - I could tell that they really enjoyed me being there and were dreading me leaving! I was asked if I could stay on but unfortunately I had to go back to Uni.
My supervisor was very good at offering support and guidance if I had problems or needed advice from someone with more experience. However, I only saw my manager on the first day and never saw him again after that.
At first things were very slow as I was told by my manager to just shadow my supervisor. He was under a lot of pressure to get a car prepared for test in Belgium so didn't really have time to teach me about what was going on. When we got back from Belgium things improved and I was given my own car to test and prep so that kept me quite busy.
I was given main responsibility over the car that I was assigned so that was a fair amount of responsibility.
I learned a lot of problem solving skills and how to get on with people from all walks of life. I probably wouldn't work in this department in future but it was a great place for a 3 month placement.
The Company
Absolutely great department with constant jokes and laughs! The trip to Belgium was excellent with drinks and extravagant meals out every night.
My department were not aware that there was going to be an intern working with them so they didn't have anything prepared and had to think up something on the spot.
Was told to complete a performance review however I feel this is a little excessive for a placement that is only 3 months long! You are able to do training programmes in pretty much whatever you want e.g. project management, idea development etc. and the company pays for it.

If you do well on the undergraduate placement it is easy to get a job at JLR again and work in the same or a different department. It is also much easier for you to apply for the grad scheme and you are more likely to get a place.
The Culture
I am the only placement student in my department so the only other placement students I see are those that I am living with. Colleague social scene is excellent though!
Leamington Spa is a fairly expensive place but the wages you get paid are more than enough to support living there.
Have mainly been to pubs which are all really nice! I hear there are good clubs too.
Not really sure about this. I think there are a lot of company arranged activities outside of work which you can get involved in. Leamington Spa is a great town where there are always clubs and things that you can join if you want to.
