About You
Enjoyable vacation scheme - participants were really looked after and did give a useful insight into life at the firm.
The graduate recruitment team gave us everything we would need and supervisors ensured we knew what we were doing.
I had three supervisors over the scheme and they were all supportive and helpful. I had a trainee mentor too who could answer questions. Other trainees were also very generous with their time.
Some useful practical research skills developed and the opportunity to try a few of the tasks normally undertaken by trainees but not very useful for a law degree.
The Company
Very well structured. The events were evenly spread out and there was a range of social and informative sessions.
Generally a very positive atmosphere - other people on the vacation scheme were friendly, as were people in the firm.
Range of sessions on advocacy, presentation skills and understanding how the city works which were very useful. Within our seats, supervisors were often willing to spend time discussing work undertaken and any possible improvements.
People within the firm were very open and honest about their experiences and we were given a good amount of time in our departments to experience life as a trainee.
Heard a lot about how the firm is particularly welcoming and friendly but got to witness it in the departments. People seemed to work well as a team and helped eachother.
Tried to give participants a real flavour of life at Hogan Lovells through the opportunities to talk openly with a range of people of all levels in the firm as well as undertaking actual work.
Everything Else
Paid more per week than other firms
Lots of networking opportunities. There were socials with trainees such as bowling as well as partner hosted lunches every Friday. There was a summer reception where we met future joiners, trainees, partners and graduate recruitment.
Really enjoyable and exclusive e.g private room for bowling and dinner at the Ivy. Really fun events and a good opportunity to meet new people in a relaxed environment.
Heard about a football team and some of the volunteering that people take part in.
Yes - you get a real insight into life as a commercial lawyer. Participants are very well looked after and it is an enjoyable three weeks. People at the firm are very friendly and helpful
