The Role
I felt like part of the team and the office was really open, hence it was very easy to talk to everyone and fit in. All of the office were very keen to meet the interns and organise social events, one of the reasons being the free food and drink but I would hope that was not the only reason...
I felt like a part of the team from the start, and the work I was doing was real client work and I felt constantly involved.
Extensive training sessions were organised for the interns, which were informative and very useful.
There were times when I would be almost swamped with work and others where I had to go looking, but this is normal and overall there was a good balance.
A lot of the work I was doing was client work, and I was working alongside new grads all the way up to senior management. I was given a lot of responsibility with the work that I was doing.
The internship was a prefect way to see what a career in Actuarial consulting would be like, and the things I learnt during my time here built on my university course (Maths with Finance) and will definitely help me in future.
The Company
There is a definite focus on quality work, but as well as this the office associates are up for a laugh, so it was a great place to be.
The internship was organised perfectly from start to finish down to every detail. I was impressed, as this must be difficult with so many interns in offices throughout the UK.
Sessions were organised in order for the interns to learn about various key areas.
The Culture
All the interns got on well, and Towers Watson have 3 days in offices where interns all get together to work on and present projects. We all went out for drinks after such days, so the social scene was good.
I was in Leeds which is fairly inexpensive compared to London.
Leeds.
Lots of sports were organised weekly by associates such as Ultimate frisbee, touch rugby, 5-a-side football. As well as this, there was something going on almost every night from golf to the cinema or just going out for drinks.
