    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed bits of it.

    2/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone who worked there was very friendly and made me feel welcome.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given some guidance.

    2/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was not busy at all after the first couple of weeks - there weren't many things for me to do.

    1/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A little responsibility of minor tasks, a bit more regarding the project that we were asked to carry out. I wasn't, however, under the impression that the project was of much importance to the branch team.

    1/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learned a lot about retail banking and the workplace in general (as this was my first internship), which will be very useful in the future.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Upbeat and friendly in general.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Would have been better if they had made sure that there was enough to do in the branch. It was too long to just be shadowing and doing meet and greet and carrying out a small project, but not long enough to undertake any major tasks/projects, and not long enough to allow me to access the customer information, and therefore preventing me from being able to help with any of the customer-related activity in the branch.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The investment came in the form of organising this internship; when I was working there, I didn't really feel like they were investing anything in me.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Opportunities for further summer internships, and then graduate training schemes. Would like to go back, but not in retail banking.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, invited to drinks after work with other interns a few times.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Quite expensive - central London.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Great - central London.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The charity events (although work-related) were good.

    2/5
