  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I very much enjoyed my internship, it has helped me decide that this is the career I want to pursue. I enjoyed coming into work each morning and I will miss all the people there.

  • I felt like my colleagues all trusted me to do work, and everyone was really friendly.

  • My manager was supportive and always willing to answer any queries that I had.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was generally kept very busy (but not too busy!) during my internship, I had lots of task to do alongside the actuarial work so there was rarely a moment where I had nothing to do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a fair bit of responsibility but obviously there were some tasks that I wouldn't be able to do without lots more training.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt some valuable office and work skills that can't be taught in a degree, and also the training sessions given to me during my internship were all brilliant and very helpful.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very fun and friendly, but at the same time hard-working, so I thought it was an ideal place to work.

  • It was planned very well and I always knew what I was supposed to be doing. We had lots of different tasks planned for us and all worked well.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All the other interns in my office were very friendly and we all went out after work together. The collegues were also socialable and often events ot pub meet-ups were organised for after-work.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living was as I expected as the office is near London, it's more expensive than where I live at home but not too bad.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife consists of mainly pubs which I think is great. There is even one club in the town.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was always something going on. During my time here I played tennis, badminton, rounders, went on a boat party, went to wine-tasting, to a pub quiz and lots more!
