    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The programme was enjoyable in three key ways: varied work, strong intern community and genuine responsibility. The work is extremely varied and interesting, only rarely involving monotonous tasks. The programme- through various internship projects - encouraged much interaction and bonding between interns. Equally, managers gave me significant responsibility, including attending client meetings, designing and executing market research campaigns, presenting to dozens of colleagues and pioneering new ideas.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • As mentioned above, you are treated as an employee, not a student. I receive praise for good work, but more importantly receive consturctive criticism to correct my flaws.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Sometime you are looking for work and so the day goes by a bit slowly, but for the mostpart I was busy. Ocassionally I was thrown in at the deep end without being crystal clear of what to do, but that only encouraged me to ask people for advice and help.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • When the work came, there was plenty to be done. Sometimes I was looking for work, but the multiple internal projects we were assigned ensured I always had work to get on with.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • In everything that did not require specific technical knowledge, I was given a free reign. From client meetings and pitches, the design of cross-selling pitches and data modelling to report writing and statistical research.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Although not related to my degree, the experience will have helped my research, writing and analytical skills- ideal for my final year of university. It has also provided me with a plethora of useful examples to competency questions at graduate interviews.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The team was fun, and the office atmosphere was very relaxed. Informal fridays had a great buzz about them.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Excellent once it started. We could have been kept more informed in advance of starting, but since starting it has been more organised. The CSR project is very well run.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • No formal training beyond the induction, but on the job experience was invaluable.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very strong record of converting interns into graduates.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • With 30+ London-based interns, the drinks always seemed to be flowing.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Its the City, after all- you will always have to pay top prices.

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Spent more time in bars and pubs, but London is a very vibrant city to work in.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are opportunities, but you have to make the effort yourself. Lots of impromptu activities such as lunches and awards ceremonies.
