The Role
The internship was very good on the whole.
Everyone was extremely friendly and approachable. Even senior colleagues are happy to take the time to explain and talk to you.
We was assigned a 'buddy' who was very supportive. During the initial weeks, they explained and allocated work, and were always on hand to deal with any questions.
At times, the workload was quite low. Over the course of the intership, activity was very cyclical - some days you could have little work, whereas on others you could have multiple time-consuming peices. So balancing your personal workload is extremely important.
You are not given a great deal of responsibility. A vast majority of the work is rountine, with someone explaining 'this is how you do it' and then you doing it. All work is checked by more experienced colleagues and is amended if needed.
I feel like I have learnt a lot about pension funds and investments. Seeing how finance concepts are applied to real life is a great insight.
The Company
The atmosphere was generally good, and very relaxed. Everyone was friendly and approachable.
The organisation in the office was very good - there were no noticable problems. Moreover, the careers team seemed to have everything well organised during the induction.
The training was limited (which is understandable for a 9 week internship).
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
The company has a very clearly defined hierachy for employee progression. It is appealing to get a job with them.
The Culture
During the induction, yes. But there were only 2 interns in my office so n/a.
Rent was £90/week, food and misc items probably totalled £20-£30/week.
Didn't go out at night much - n.a
Some.
