The Role
I've really enjoyed it. I've learnt so much in my time here and the experience has been invaluable. There was a good balance of work and socials.
Everyone was really helpful. I got to know the people I worked with very well. They appreciated the work I did for them and they gave me valuable feedback.
There has always been someone willing to help. Everyone is really supportive and easy to approach.
My workload varied. In the beginning when people didn't really know me, I had to ask for work but by then end, I had a good stream of tasks coming in. I was kept busy but not TOO busy.
I was given client work right away. I was doing actual calculations and updating letters/emails/presentations that the clients would see. Of course it would all be checked first!
I've learnt a lot about office etiquette and what working life will be like. We had some training sessions about mortality and how to use certain programems like Transcalc. I'm really glad I did it!
The Company
There were socials throughout. There's Friday night drinks. We were taken out to lunch many times. There was a boat party on the Thames (great fun!). Such a good opportunity to meet people. I've found people in the office to be very welcoming. It's easy to settle down.
The internship was well structured. We had an induction day where we got to know the other interns from all the other offices a little better as well as a whole day to work on the intern project. We were given a calender of intern days right from the start which was helpful and we were informed of the schedule prior to each event by email. Additionally we had a mid internship review where we were given feedback as well as one at the end to talk about our time at the office and how we've progressed.
I think a lot of time has been invested in us to familiarise us with the software and general protocol. We could have been given more training though. The sessions were a little rushed.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
I will find out in September but if I get offered a place, I plan to take it!
The Culture
I got to know the other interns really well. We hung out at lunch often and some of us worked together for the intern project.
London is expensive but i think the subsidised canteen is a huge bonus!
It's London! Enough said.
There was always something going on whether it was sports or drinks or a party or a small get together in the park for lunch.
