The Role
The work involved differed from my previous experiences therefore I enjoyed the challenge of undertaking something new.
My work was reviewed regularly allowing feedback to be given and improvements to be made where necessary.
Support was available from all colleagues.
I had a range of tasks over the course of the internship that required at least one hour spent on per day.
I had some admin tasks to complete, which was expected however I was also given higher levels of responsibility through talking and meeting with clients, creating reports and conducting a benchmarking exercise for the department.
I have improved on communication through team work including the CSR project, as well as thruogh client meetings which has also strengthened my ability to build client relationships.
The Company
The atmosphere was good, it was relaxed and had the opportunity to get on with your work despite it being a large open plan office. It was also a very social office and external social events with colleagues were encouraged.
Very well organised, I was assigned a 'buddy' within my department and I continually had work to get on with.
As I was only here for 9 weeks, I did not complete any formal training. However, office procedures were explained from the beginning and members from each department took time to introduce themselves and what the department does. I was also encouraged to go to client meetings which I found very useful.
There is a possibility of a graduate position to come from the internship.
The Culture
All interns were keen to interact both in work and outside. It was also good in terms of colleagues as we went for lunches together and arranged other social nights outside of work.
I stayed in student accommodation as I was only here for short term, which was average cost.
Due to the high student population the night life in Leeds is excellent offering different things for a wide range of people.
Yes we had a CSR project involving a local charity which allowed me to volunteer outside of work. Again, there are many activities on offer due to the large student population.
