The Role
Brilliant environment and company.
Felt like I contributed well and was able to help the team get work done.
I was mentored through the getting started process of each new challenge I came across, and then generally left to my own devices, with a number of people I could ask for help or guidance.
Always had work to do, time is managed well and dynamically so no stressful deadlines were set.
I had my own tasks to manage and complete.
I've learnt so much related to group software development and general programming techniques that I never did through Uni courses, and it's all very relevant to working life.
The Company
Very relaxed and comfortable. Brilliant desk layouts/lighting/facilities to work in. Easy to get along with everyone
All interns were introduced to the various aspects of the company and checked up upon. My manager valued my need to get experience across different areas and learn new things.
Training was given for the version control system used, but most valuable was the feeling that the company and my team valued my personal development over me just getting whatever work was available done.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
It's better than I could have expected, and I'd enjoy being able to return.
The Culture
Interns chatted and a few events were held, but most of us knew each other from University anyway!
Average room and food prices, good nearby pubs and towns.
London nearby
For longer term employees there are, but they're mostly arranged much in advance so impractical for a placement duration.
