The Role
Having never worked before, I enjoyed the oppurtunity to engage in business situations and meet many new people who I could learn from.
My colleagues were always pleasant to me and I felt my help was well recieved but obviously my limited training meant that I could not always assist with the more valuable tasks.
I was always given support when asked I asked for it. Me and management had regular meetings to discuss my progress.
This was mainly due to the time of year, but there was a lack of new quotes in July/August meaning I was often looking to other areas of the business for work.
I was surprised by the responsibility that I was given so soon within my placement allowing me to deal with quotes and write premium after only days on the job.
I have developed confidence, trading skills and knwlodege of the business world that will prove useful in my studies and beyond.
The Company
Everyone in the office was very social and up for a laugh but equally understood that sometimes work needed to be done.
I recieved a training plan that structered my internship but as I have said, the lack of new business in this time period meant that the plan did not always fill my time.
There was a large amount of time invested by certain individuals within the team in assiting me with tasks and making sure I made the most out of my placement. Little financial investment was required.
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Allianz seems like a very good place to work where most people are very welcoming and there are many company benefits. If you want to go into the insurance industry, a growing company like Allianz is the place to start.
The Culture
I was the only intern in my branch and so was not involved in many of these activities but I am aware that the social scene between interns is quite prominent around the London branches and head office.
Average, the placement was in Birmingham which isnt particularly cheap but equally does not compete with London prices.
Poor, the location of the office, by Birmingham Airport did not lend itself to any nightlife, but other branches of Allianz certainly would.
Yes, despite the location, there were social events held wirth the team and branch parties held.
