The Role
I had a very enjoyable work placement. Allianz seem like a very good company to work for - Definitely apply!!
Colleagues would often give me work if I needed any, and were all very welcoming and friendly.
My line manager and his manager were very helpful, and would help me out with anything I didn't understand. The same applied for the rest of the department.
Occasionaly I wouldn't have much to do, but that was because of waiting for email replies to the project I was working on. However, if I asked, I was always found work.
I was given a medium amount of responsibility. I feel I could have been given bigger projects, as the ones I was given unfortunately seemed to have a smaller scope than it first seemed. However, we were given as much time as needed to work on projects and I did feel responsible for all the work and outcomes that I achieved.
The skills I developed will give me a great experience within a corporate environment, one which I had not experienced before!
The Company
Very friendly, and the colleagues were always very welcoming. Lot's of snacks - both healthy and bad for you floating around, nice to have a treat!
Placement was very well organised, comms between HR and interns leading up to the start were good.
Company tried to gie us as much exposure as possible.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing, lots of different grad schemes to go onto and apply for.
The Culture
Very good social scene with placement students; all about how you make the placement for yourself. If you like socialising then you can easily organise things with interns. We went out for nights out, meals out and cinema trips!
Guildford is quite expensive - much like any other southern place!
Guildford has lots of little bars, pubs and clubs! Friday nights are good!
Yep, football matches, bbq's, summer parties. Very social scene with Allianz, and there is a social page on the intranet with various offers around Guildford and within the company.
