The Role
I really enjoyed the work placement as I was given real work to do from the start with real responsibity. It was fast paced and varied to give a realistic insight into what working for the company would be like.
The work I was given was work they would otherwise be doing theirselves, making me feel the work was really worthwhile. Everyone seemed to take a real intrest on how I was finding the work and how I was feeling about the whole experience, throughout.
My supervisor was really supportive the whole time and always there if I needed anything. Although the manager was really busy, she was able to invest enough time with me when I needed it and really seemed to take an interest.
Most days the workload was a good balance, with a variety of work that filled the day. Some days were a bit slow starting, especially when waiting for different people to get back to me on the projects I was working on. Other times the work seemed to all come at once, but is manageable when I managed my time well.
I felt like I was given a good level of responsibilty throughout but without feeling too out of my depth. I was able to ask for more responsibilty and got it if i felt i wasn't getting enough in one area.
The placement has given me real life experience that I wouldn't otherwise gain. I feel I have developed greatly in professional communication skills that will no doubt allow me to stand out from the crowd when apply for jobs if I am unable to later gain a place on the graduate scheme.
The Company
The department was really friendly and welcoming but hard working. Had a good balance that was motivational.
Very well organised- my supervisor always had work for me to do in the case that I had run out. The internship set out was good that I was able to catch up with all the interns at the beginning of the placement, in the middle and towards the end.
My department was really good and mainly invested the time to help me understand not only their work and what I was to do but also why I was doing it and the implications.

Company Parties/Events
The graduate schemes look really good and well organised. I have applied for one of them and just waiting for the final part of the assessment process.
The Culture
I think a big part of this was from our orignial induction day and events before starting the placement. This allowed us to properly meet before the placement. We have been meeting up outside of work every weekend and the odd weeknight throughout the week.
Within Surrey (Guildford office) the costs of living and socialising was above the country average but manageable. I was lucky enough to be living at home over the placement but don't think anyone was struggling at all.
Nightlife in Guildford is good but isn't the best. Close to London and Brighton though where we have had a few nights out over the placement. As always, its the people that make it!
Yes, as interns you are invited to all the Allianz social events, myself having attended the Summer Party!
