    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The journey for me was a long one, struggling a long round the M25. Apart from the travelling the placement was brilliant! They gave me loads of responsibility from day one, planning my own stores and interacting with senior colleagues.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • In the beginning it was quite difficult to earn the respect of everyone around me, just coming into the role without much real life experience. However I worked hard and became a valued member of the team.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The management on my placement were brilliant. There was always some one for me to talk to and they were constantly giving me more responsibility. They were also helpful in allowing me to spend time in other departments.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • At the beggining of the placement I found myself with not a lot to do, after that however I have been quite busy. There are always peaks and troughs in work load but thats just the way the schedule works.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a huge amount of responsibility. I was in charge of facilitating high level meetings and also allowed to plan layouts for stores myself.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The placement taught me a lot, interacting with different types of people on a daily basis really improved my relationship skills. Having to manage my own workload helped me to improve my organisation which before my placement was a big downfall in my university studies.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • At most times the office was a nice place to work with people being friendly and helpfull. However there was some times when there was a heavy workload where the atmosphere became quite tense.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There were a few teething issues at the beggining as I was the first placement student my department had ever had. However after that initial period placement was fine with someone always being around to answers questions and give me support

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested a lot of time and event in me. They sent me on lots of training courses and allowed me to spend time in other departments, even though that ment some one else taking on my workload for a few weeks.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • With Tesco being such a large company opperating in so many different areas the prospects are brilliant. Allowing any employee the chance to move between numerous departments, places and even countries would appeal to most.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was only me and two other placement students and the other two were in a different department so I didn't see them much.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home on my placement and commuted. I did however go out a few times and found that it was quite expensive to go out, well compared to student bars anyway.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The night life is good in the area, with it being so close to london most people hop on a train for nights out.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were many things going on outside of work that I could get involed in, for example a triathlon for charity. I also used to play football most weeks with my work colleagues
