About You
The insight day was fairly well organised and I enjoyed the experience, although it confirmed for me that this particular company was not for me
As we were only there for a day I don't think we really added much value, but I certainly felt welcome
Lots of guidance- in fact the day involved little participation from us and was mostly a presentation and introduction to the company
Again, limited given that it was only a day, but I certainly had the chance to broaden my knowledge of this industry
The Company
Very well structured; the day went smoothly and clearly a lot of thought had been put into it
There were some fun moments, lunch was provided and we had the opportunity to chat to first year analysts.
Given that all expenses were paid for etc, they did invest in us to some extent... but as the day was over quite quickly I don't think there was any long term investment in our personal development
The day was a great insight into this. We were introduced to Barclays Capital and the broader Investment Banking industry via presentations, trading floor tours, networking opportunities and work shadowing.
As above, all the presentations, tours and networking opportunities really gave us the chance to get a feel for what it is actually like to work for Barclays.
Fairly important in that it ruled out banking as a future career path for me. This si not to say that I didn't find the day worthwhile, just that it wasn't for me.
Everything Else
Travel was reimbursed (train ticket) and lunch provided
Networking with first year analysts, people from HR and some more senior staff too
As above; good opportunities to dicuss the company and do some networking
I didn't get the impression that there is much life outside work!
I would recommend this insight- I certainly found it valuable.
