The Role
The job in general is very good. I did one rotation I liked and one rotation I didn't like, but in both of them I have learned a lot. It was a great learning experience from a work but also from a personal perspective. The only downside was that it was very tiring, but only because I gave 300%. I feel that every minute I've spent was well spent, and I was glad to do my very best to hopefully get an offer here, because it is definitely worth it.
I felt valued by my teams, which gave me projects that were useful to them, not just projects to keep me busy.
My mentor, manager and all the HR were all very important and provided me with excellent advice and network. Their feedback was essential.
There were days I felt too busy, but it was up to me to decide how much work I could take.
A lot, as my projects will be used. My teams also trusted my judgement in views on countries I know well.
The skills I developed are very valuable. They are both technical and soft. Probably the latter will be the most valuable as I think this is the only industry where you can learn them.
The Company
It depends on the desk you're on.
The internship program is excellent, well organised and designed so that everyone gets the chance, if they take it, to give their best.
I believe BAML invested a lot in me and in all the interns in general. The training and the internship overall were a great learning experience and our feedback was often asked for: it shows that they really invest a lot in us.
I believe I did well and I got positive feedback, but I don't know at this stage.
The Culture
There was but only to a certain extent, because, and I think this is the case everywhere, people tend to form groups according to their nationalities. Anyway, I definitely made good friends across all the nationalities. All Fridays we go have some drinks together after work.
The City of London is not the cheapest place ever.
It's very good.
Yes, we had many networking events and drinks outside of work, and there were interesting partnerships with museums.
