The Role
I Enjoyed the placement a lot and I was able to apply some of what I had learnt on my degree to rea life situations.
They made me feel like a member of the team straight after joining them. Valued my ideas, were helpful and were easy to get along with
Good support, could always approach them if I had any queries.
Sometimes there were times when I didn't have much work to do and my line manager was away and no-one else had much work to give me. Other times I had just the right amount of work to do.
I attended meetings for people, and had to deliver a number of key documents for specific deadlines. I also undertook a solo project that lasted about 3 months having to visit colleagues in other offices and deliver the work by a specific deadline
I got to attend numerous courses, some general and some on specific aspects of Ntional Grid Work. Some will be useful in my degree, some will not
The Company
Everyone was friendly and approachable. I was also quite a busy office with people coming and going. It was also quite noisy because the phones never stopped!!
Objectives were set at the start of the placement. I had a change in Line manager 1/2 way through the placement but the objectives were not carried across
I went a numerous courses including a student development course just after I joined National Grid. My manager was always trying to find trips which I could go on or sites which would be interesting to see.

Very appealing company to work for due to the size of the company and the varied amount of work they do. Unfortunately didn't get accepted to Graduate Scheme
The Culture
Not any other students where I worked but managed to go out with my colleagues a couple of times
