The Role
On the whole I loved it but did not get to do everything I wanted to because of staff shortages and covering.
Immediately felt welcomed and valued. Made the process easier for me because of the help my colleagues gave me.
I was constantly given support by my managers and supervisors. I had weekly 1:1 meetings to discuss my progress and what they wanted more from me. They were always available for questions
I was mostly busy with various tasks to do, which made it hard for me to get stuck in to one thing in particular. There was a lot of flexibility.
I was given a specific role with my assigned project, which gave me direct responsibility for a particular area.
The internship I did was not completely relevant to my degree, but none the less I learned valuable banking skills. I mainly developed my HR skills as I spent a lot of time in a responsible position, having to relate with people.
The Company
The office was a very nice place to be, as the people were excellent. Whilst the main office was busy and loud, there was also an upstairs office which was far quieter.
I think the internship was very well set up. I was set up on all of the IT systems from day 1 and had everything in place by the time I had arrived. I had clear objectives throughout.
They gave us a project to focus on as well as a list of other objectives. These objectives were all bank-related and taught me a lot of things. I was helped by all staff, given induction and review days etc. Perhaps a training day or two could have been useful.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
It is dependant on my review at the end of the internship.
The Culture
Regular intern events were organised.
London is an expensive place.
Loads of different things to do after work - dinner, drinks etc.
There is a fantastic sports system at the bank and these were offered locally.
