The Role
I really enjoyed my internship at Citi. It was a great opportunity to learn about the banking industry, the business but also to network in an international work environment.
My colleagues were very friendly and I really felt part of the team. Many networking events were organised so as to get to know people better.
Support and guidance was given to me whenever I needed it. I was told not to hesitate to ask questions and my staffers but also my other colleagues were very happy to help if they could.
I was responsible for my workload so it was up to me to choose how many projects I could take on. In order to make the most of my internship, I did not hesitate to help on many different tasks but I always made sure I would be able to meet my commitments.
Responsibilities were gradually given to me as I gained business and technical skills.
I am convinced that the skills I developed during my internship at Citi will assist me beyond my studies as I would very much like to work permanently in the division I interned in.
The Company
All of my coworkers were up for a chat or a coffee if they were not busy and always very helpful.
The internship was very well organised by HR with a mid-term and final review scheduled along with different intern events. Our staffers also paid attention to our workload and to the diversity of our tasks.
There was 1 week of training at the beginning of the internship and online financial training available at all times.

The Culture
Overall, I got along with all of my fellow interns.
The cost of living is relatively high in London but there are lots of opportunities to socialise outside the office: Canary Wharf has plenty of restaurants and bars where people working in the area meet up after work.
There are many bars in Canary Wharf but people usually go elsewhere afterwards.
Full-time analysts rarely work during the weekends so it was the same for interns.
