About You
It was an enjoyable experience and the weeks flew by
You will be given real pieces of work and expected to do them well. I do feel that the work I did was put to use.
This is dependant on how much support you feel you need. Support is given on request but they do expect a certain level of independence
Law in practise and law in theory is quite different, for that reason I don't think it will help with the substantial part of my degree. However, I may use some of the soft skills I learnt, like keeping focussed and structuring my day to help with my studies.
The Company
The placement has been planned meticulously by graduate recruitment and because of this everything ran very well.
Each department has its own atmosphere but everyone is friendly
We were given skills training, company talks and were given an option to attend further training workshops
I did not work in all of the departments but got a feel for the firm from the departments I sat in
Extremely useful, would recommend anyone with any interest of pursuing a career in law to undertake a vacation scheme
Everything Else
Competitive pay for a vacation scheme at a firm in the city
Networking events were arranged and most employees came round and made themselves known to me
