About You
I felt the day was well structured and I found out more about the Bank and the opportunities than I thought I ever would.
We were welcomed really well and there were no airs about the place. Considering it was the Bank of England I was surprised at the friendly atmosphere and how lovely everyone was.
All the questions I had about anything were answered during the day and also since then the organisers have been very good at responding to emails promptly.
Well I learnt that exactly what you study isn't really important. What's more important s what you do with it and how you can demonstrate your interest in a particular field. This has made me more confident that regardless of what I am studying, there are a vast number of opportunities available to me.
The Company
Very well structured. At no point were we ever short on time or missed a planned activity.
The day was packed with lots of information, friendly people, and at the end of it all, I came away sure that I will be applying to the Bank.
Well we had the opportunity to find out more about the operational structure of the bank and the areas in which they take graduates/students.
There was a fantastic panel session with current Bank employees who we got to ask questions and they answered them very candidly giving us all the information. Also, all the opportunities available were gone through and now I am sure which one I want to go for when the application process begins.
Again, the panel session was very useful for this as the panellists answered all the questions we had and weren't afraid to tell us the truth. Unlike other places I have been too, here they gave it to us straight and I admire them for explaining the culture and practice at the bank.
I know now I will be applying to one of their schemes for sure and this day was invaluable in aiding that decision. During the networking lunch, I had the opportunity to speak to other Bank representatives and the lady from HR who I spoke to was very good at giving me advice on what I need to do to make my application stand out and also about what to include.
Everything Else
As a student, its good that even for insight days we were reimbursed because every little does help.
The panel discussion, the networking lunch, & networking drinks at the end. It was all good as there was the opportunity to speak to different bank representatives who again, were al friendly and happy to talk to us.
There were plenty of opportunities and each time there was the chance to speak to various people from Bank employees to some of the other insight students.
Yes. The Panel discussion gave this opportunity as when we asked questions relating to outside work experiences, the panel was more than happy to tell us. They told us how the Bank actively encourages its people to do more for the community which is something that I am really happy about!
I had a great day and if anybody was interested in finding out more about the Bank, I would tell them to just go for it!
