About You
The Company
The presentations were always finished on time and were always very detailed. I also enjoyed the ones that were interactive as they really made you think about what was being said[.
Everyone got on really well and there were lots of social events to ensure this. All the employees were also really friendly which made you feel at ease immediately and able to ask any questions you had.
I was given a lot of responsibility in the sense that I was asked to draft emails and take part in some due diligence which was used in a genuine deal. I was also asked questions about particular things which demanded the use of my commercial instinct. Finally, as well as all the employees being approachable so I could ask any questions, I also felt like I was explained things very well and in great detail. Furthermore, they were also willing to give up their time so we could have conversations about things that I was unsure of. This all helped my training and development.
Everything Else
There were many social and networking events which I really enjoyed. Here we were encouraged to talk to partners which was good practice for life as a solicitor.
They were varied but interesting and it gave us a good opportunity to find out more about each other.
I got to visit one of the Pro Bono clinics which was something which really interested me because I find CSR very important in a firm.
Yes, you were really pushed and given responsibility, the two weeks were organised really well and I feel I got a genuine insight into what life would be like as a solicitor working in a city firm. It was fast paced and pressured but not too stressful so not to be enjoyable.
