The Role
The internship was phenomenally rewarding and had a superior structure that granted interns the best exposure possible.
My colleagues were grateful for my work and have expressed that the benefit of my contributions will continue to be felt after I leave.
Support and guidance from your desk management and HR molded perfectly to your needs.
The amount of work you covered daily varied considerably, depending on the needs of your desk. Projects were substantial, but if expectations were managed, the workload was ok.
Of course, what an intern can do is limited by regulation. But within these parameters, many tasks undertaken were time sensitive and a failure to complete would have had a significant impact on the desk.
The internship encourages the development of a broad range of skills and knowledge that aim to prepare you for related roles within the bank, with many of those skills being very transferable.
The Company
The atmosphere was generally very friendly and colleagues were very approachable. Of course this varied depending on how busy the markets were.
Every element of the internship seemed well planned and every scenario considered. The vast majority of events were in place from the start and arrangements proved to be very well thought out.
The first week of the internship was used as a broad introduction to Sales and Trading as a whole and training and seminars had an ongoing presence throughout the summer.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Every aspect of the summer - the support, opportunities and especially the people at Citi, make it an extremely attractive place to work. I would definitely recommend it.
The Culture
The class got on very well on the whole and with such a variety of personalities there were always things going on in the evenings and weekends, which were to your taste.
London can be a bit more expensive than other parts of the country, but those costs are manageable, especially with some care. The canteen made the cost food and drink during the day very reasonable indeed.
Of an evening or weekend, you're never too far away from restaurants, bars or clubs.
This mostly depended on how motivated you are, but people on the floor were very inclusive if you seemed keen. In terms of activities organised alongside the internship, those outside of work were great fun and provided a good opportunity to get to know people in the business as well as the other interns.
