The Role
I was given a fair deal of work which has been relevent hence I have had a great insight into the industry.
Everyone that I worked with I felt were very approachable. During the time at the office we were invited to their social events which helped us interact with a lot of colleagues whom we wouldn't have seen during a normal office day.
There were regular meetings with our manager, the meetings involved feedback from us and people that had worked with us. It helped the process of development whilst at Aon.
I was able to build a strong relationship with colleagues at the office which meant I was given work to do all the time, I was occupied the entire time on my internship.
With the work load I had the responsibility of ensuring set tasks were completed on time and in a professional manner. Not all the responsibility was absorbed by myself, my buddy ensured he was aware of all the tasks that were in hand to monitor how I was coping.
My degree was of great assistance during the internship, and at the end I had contextualised my academic understanding. This in turn has helped me further understand the theory's that I have learnt.
The Company
There was a very good balance of fun and work.
When coming to the end, there was a confusion on offers and how many people could possibly be offered a graduate position. Since this was the aim for most people over the time there it was very disappointing.
I was working with a range of colleagues from new graduates to consultants, so the training varied significantly depending on the work I was doing.
Company Parties/Events
Aon is focusing on off-shoreing their work helping them expand
The Culture
Most of the interns tried to catch up at some point during the day and would generally go up for lunch together
Prices were decent, there are generally offers on all around and most people in the office were aware of these.
Not appealing
Many sporting activities and social events happened whilst we were there
