The Role
The best part is the big bank atmosphere in London with many other interns. The desks are varied so you get a range of experience on the job.
It difficult to do anything very meaningful as a summer intern
Depends. Some managers are incredible and personally sit with you to give you interesting work/readings and some don't interact much with you
CMO division is relatively quiet over the summer- particularly the DCM desks
You are expected to work like an analyst and given independent assignments but you are always able to ask questions
Great way to understand a range of financial instruments and how they react to/in markets
The Company
Incredible atmosphere among the other interns, open floor plan so also easy to walk around and talk to people or ask questions
Very organised with a mid summer activity, welcome drinks, etc. Slightly more socially geared than training geared, focus on talks about Citi, diversity, globalisation...
Low focus on training interns, you learn on the job though so not a big problem
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
The Culture
Very good, people are easy going, very international, and sociable
very social though people tend to go out away from canary wharf
drinks at canary wharf, central london for going out/restaurants/etc
The hours are variable and change across your rotation so its hard to do any activity outside work. the best is to sign up for the company gym and find gaps in the day/early evening
