    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • It was great, I learnt so much

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

    • I was given a lot of responsibility from day 1 and really felt like I was helping the team get through the work load.

    • My line manager would stop whatever he was doing to answer a question or query I may have had.

    • There were times when I was flat out but I didn't mind that.

    • I was told to meet the client and put together the appropriate drawings and price list all by myself!

    • It has really given me an insight into designing highways

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • It was professinal but sometimes conversations started and this generated some discussion and friendly jokes

    • They knew exactly what they wanted me to do and had everything set up for when I came in.

    • I was provided with everything I needed but my training came from my line manager

    • Nothing has been said but I feel that if there was space when I graduate, they would offer me a job

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • Many of the people in my office travelled over an hour to get to work so unfortunately socials were few and far between

    • The local area wasn't great but slightly further afield there were some good places to go
