The Role
Good people to work with, i was given a real project with real responsibilities.
I was working on a project that genuinely needed doing!
Help was all around when I needed it.
I could sort of choose how productive I wanted to be, vI was expected to work independently; I knew what work I had to do over my 10 week placement and it was ip to me to see that it was done.
I was doing real work, writing up real reports that would have otherwise been done by a Rolls Royce employee
How to work hard and professional I guess? Realistically though, I don't think there is an awful amount of overlap between real jobs and degrees...
The Company
Big open office plan, very social and easy to access each other for work input
On the whole, internships are very well set up and prepared (Through no fault of Rolls Royce, mine was delayed and a new one had to be found for me (I couldnt get clearance to work in nuclear))
There was training! I did a couple of day courses! There is a lot of training on the grad scheme!
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
I will definitly be applying for the grad scheme! RR seems a great company to work for.
The Culture
RR arranged for us all to live in student halls! About 100 of us would all go out at the weekend.
Derby is a very cheap place to live!
Not great for clubs (there are a few, but very standard) but a night out is what you make of it! Go with the right croud!
There is an intern and graduate society that organise things like jet skiing, white water rafting, paintballing etc...
