    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Although the mandatory health and safety induction were not the most enjoyable start to my placement, things picked up very quickly. The most enjoyable part was being able to work on several different projects at the same time.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everybody was hugely welcoming, there was a large body of Grads and placement students, giving a good working and social environment. Senior colleagues were very approachable, and trusted you to do important and fulfilling work to do.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager was excellent, very helpful and really good at getting me work to do when i needed it. Having said that, there was very much a focus on getting on by yourself, and I was encouraged to find work that interested me myself by asking around the office.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The levels of work for me to do varied, as is the case in a consultancy where projects start and stop. But overall I feel as though there was enough work for me to do, and I never felt overwhelmed with the workload either.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I really didnt expect to be given huge amounts of responsibility, due to my lack of experience, and I wasnt disappointed. Not that I would have wanted a too much responsibility anyway. I felt that a good balance was achieved

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It is really to early to give this question much substantiation, but I do think that learning the basics of living and working in an office environment will be helpful an later years of my life. The training I did receive was well presented and useful while I was there.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • As there were a large body of Grads and placement students, the office atmosphere was normally very upbeat. The best part though, was the table football table in a side office, that could be used during lunch breaks

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • HR was exceptionally well organised compared to some other companies that I applied to for work placements. Though it did take them quite a while to sort out my security clearance and print me a new name badge.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company certainly did invest in me by providing me with personal training and helping me to develop my skills. They were very happy to provide any extra training that I felt I needed and were keen to promote professional development

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have been warmly welcomed into the company and there is almost an expectation that I will go back next year as I have developed a good working relationship with the people and the company. I am very keen to go again.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As there were a large body of Grads and placement students, the social scene was very welcoming and lively. The table football table was a great place to meet the other placement students and develop friendships.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As in all citys the cost of living was more expensive than in other places.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • This one was really my own fault, I was staying quite a way out from the city center so I couldnt get involved in any of the nightlife with my great ease. Though I am not sure I would have wanted to anyway.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was a good sports and social club that organised many good activities to take part in. So almost everything that you wanted could happen through that and if it didnt then you could request that it did.

    3/5
