The Role
My placement year at Aldi has been an extremely beneficial experience. I have had the opportunity of working in a challenging but rewarding environment which has allowed me to grow as a person and acquire new skills as well as having a greater understanding of the business as a whole.
From the start of the placement to the end I have always felt I was valued member of the team. My opinions and decisions have always been respected by all members within the company.
Guidance and support has always been available at all stages of my training. I have had either an Area Manger or Director that I have been is in regular contact with thus any issues are able to be addressed and resolved quickly.
From day one I realised the fast pace environment that Aldi operates in. I was busy every day of my placement however the management of the workload became easier as I was able to organise and operate more efficiently.
The amount of responsibility that was given to me was vast and I was responsible for making important decisions from the initial stage of my training. I also accountable for projects and changing systems and procedures that would effect the whole region.
The skills and knowledge that I have gained working at Aldi have been substantial. I had the opportunity to experience all areas within the business from working in store to each department in Head Office: Property, Trading, Logistics, Finance and Administration and Store Operations.
The Company
The atmosphere in store and the Regional Head Offices was excellent. All my colleagues were approachable and I felt part of the team.
The Aldi placement is extremely organised with a structured training plan being followed throughout the year. I had regular updates with Directors to discuss my performance, strengths and weakness which allowed me to evaluate my work and put in place plans to progress further.
Aldi are definitely willing to invest a vast amount of time and effort in Placement students. At each stage of the process I was able to experience a number of new skills that allowed me to develop my personal attributes.
Company Car
This placement acts as an ideal progression route into the graduate programme offered at Aldi. Not only are you able to access the company and the potential role that you will be coming back to but your training plan once graduated will be significantly shortened.
The Culture
There were four other Placements students working in my region which was excellent as we all had a great relationship with each other!
