The Role
Got a real hands on project which was relevent to be no the same as my degree, challenging but interesting.
Work was later deployed and used in copmany.
I was helped when needed, but they did come help me fix every issue which in the end was good as you learn more solving a problem by yourself.
Work Play balance was pretty decent.
Responsible for my own project, but had to follow guidlines laid out.
While I may not want to take this job on as a final career, both the skills and experience I gained from working within an office environment is invaluable.
The Company
Banter with boss was amazing, if you watch suits it was pretty much Harvey and Mike.
I think they played it by ear, but you have to seeing as you don't know the ability of the person who you will be in charge of.
We got lunch and learn sessions so we go to see what the whole company was like, as well as online courses and guidance from your mentor.
Subsidised Canteen
I would love to work at M&G if I were to judge it on a purely office environment basis, however I'm not convinced I would want to work cooperate.
The Culture
Went out frequently with other interns and graduates, and lunch every day with other interns.
London is fairly expensive, I was lucky and got to stay at my friends house but I know quite a few people who blew their entire salary on rent and going out.
Within bank (the area where I worked) there weren't that many great clubs we went to, but then again after drinks I usually went home on a week day, friday and saturday were the nights you could get home at 5am ;)
M&G encourages sports within the company and frequently organises footbal, softball, netball and if there isnt a team around somebody will probably want to play with you.
