The Role
I enjoyed it a lot. BAML provided a lot of support having senior people involved, and training through out the program.
People are very helpful and open for Q&A. It is not a hierarchical team to work for in Equity Research, so even if you want to talk to a MD there is almost always an open/glass door policy. Transparency is key.
Very senior people in the bank were involved in the program. There were weekly or more often meetings/ round table/ presentations where people from different departments would come and present what they do in their respective roles/teams.
I think in an IB environment you can not but expect to have a lot of work. This goes with the territory. At the same time, this is a trial period both for them but also for me. You want to make sure this is the right environment to be in and progress your career.
I was given the opportunity to run my project, with some guidance, but overall there was a lot of flexibility.
I think they will help if you stay in this environment mostly, but then there are some soft skills like presentation skills that would benefit you wherever you are go.
The Company
This is a bank and furthermore in a research environment you can expect people actually spending a lot of time writing their reports - it was a quite floor as expected. On the upside, there are ping pong tables next to the canteen.
I think HR did an excellent job. Moreover, operations did a great job as most things were working well when I arrived.
They did invest quite a lot to put this together, not only in terms of money, but also in terms of time. They offered personal training for me, because I arrived to work a week later, given that my studies ended later.

I think BAML definitely stands out in the space of Equity Research and it is a very good company to work overall. I would thoroughly recommend them for internship/full time roles to people aspiring to work in Finance.
The Culture
I would say that Equity research there were a lot of analysts who are very worried in getting their offer, so things were not moving much. On the other hand HR did try to help a lot through a number of events so things were moving on that end a lot!
Pint of drink, not so expensive. Getting in a cab late at night very. I would say London is an expensive place, but I love it!
The City of London is a great place to go out for pubs/bars/restaus!
London - YES!!!! The question is, do you have the time? I think as a full time equity analyst you will probably have the time to be involved a lot outside the bank not to mention the fact that BAML has a lot of sponsorships programs in museums etc which are free for employees!
