The Role
Not so exciting at first, but I was assigned more exciting tasks after finishing the first ones.
I think everyone in the team tried to make me feel comfortable.
My manager was quite busy most of the times, but he would usually help me with anything that I needed or at least point me in the right direction.
My projects didn't really have deadlines or any time pressure, so I could work at my own pace.
The tools that I worked on weren't critical, but I was given almost full responsibility for them.
I gained some valuable technical skills. The opportunity to be part of a real-world software engineering team was also very valuable and has given me some insight into the industry.
The Company
The Edinburgh office isn't very big, but it was quite fun to work in.
You can tell they invest a lot in their internship scheme. It all works remarkably well.
I didn't really require much help, but I think I would have got more if I did.
Flexi Time
National Travel
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Not sure if I want to get into software engineering, but if I did, I would definitely consider a job here.
The Culture
We were quite a small group of interns, but we usually had lunch together and sometimes go out.
The subsidized accommodation helped, as Edinburgh can get quite expensive during the festival.
Edinburgh is great in this respect.
Again, Edinburgh is a great city, offering all kinds of opportunities.
